“.. This fascinates and absorbs me. More and more I have found that my own private space, my garden, my small Margaritan Giverny a la Monet, bathed in the sensuous light of the Tropics, seduces and forces me to paint. Evidently there exists a magic element, the angling dawn light which, day after day, restores color and form to our lives .”Jimmy Day

Carlos Otero

Carlos Otero was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1960. For the past twenty five years the Artist has lived and worked in Montreal. In 1984, after four year studies in civil engineering, Carlos starts his graphic design career at the prestigeous Fundación Instituto de Diseño (Newman) in Caracas, Venezuela. In 1988, the last year of his studies, members of a jury awarded him the honorable mention Cum laudæ for the quality of his work and his academic achievements. He notably studied with Ina Bainova, Miguel Sanoja, Victor Hugo Irrazabal and Patricia Van-Dalen among others.

Parallel to his holistic work as a biodynamic craniosacral therapist Carlos continues to develop his artistic side through painting. Principally he works in acrylics on canvas. His work reveals an ongoing fascination with the colorful energy flow of abstraction.
He relates his colorful acrylic flow with the unfolding process in Biodynamics
Recently Carlos has been exploring a more abstract dimension with his new series. Responding to the long tradition of abstract painting in Quebec, he is producing brilliantly multi-coloured unfolding scenaries of deeply incised acrylic paint. These canvases have an amazing impact on the viewer touching their emotions as he/she discovers the intricacies of the process involved at the same time as assimilating the vibrancy of the image.
